Program Overview
Classes for Kids: 
Our children's classes make learning English fun! Through painting, storytelling, and music, kids build vocabulary and gain confidence in speaking. Each session is a new adventure in art and language.
Classes for Adults:
Adult learners benefit from a creative approach to language acquisition. Our classes use art critiques, collaborative projects, and thematic art creation to enhance English comprehension and conversation skills.
Schedule: $25 per person, per class
Kids (6th & 7th graders) Beginner Level: Every Thursday 12-2 PM beginning June 20th.
Kids (6th & 7th graders) Intermediate/Advanced Level: Every Friday 12- 2 PM beginning June 21st.
Adults Beginner Level: Every Monday 2-4 PM Beginning June 10th
Adults Intermediate/Advanced Level: Every Tuesday 2-4 PM beginning June 11th.

Instructor Bio: Zavia Empey
Zavia Empey is an accomplished educator and artist with over 16 years of experience teaching English Language, English Literature, Communication Studies, Literatures in English and English as a Second Language (ESL) in the Caribbean and the United States. Her multifaceted career seamlessly blends her passion for language with her love for art, making her an inspiring and effective instructor. 
In 2023, Zavia made a significant career shift, leaving her ESL teaching position on Cape Cod to launch Pop Up Street Cape Cod. This innovative venture brings together artists, chefs, and artisans to create vibrant community events and workshops, including the ESL classes that Zavia passionately continues to teach.
Zavia has dedicated her career to fostering language skills and creativity among her students. She believes in the transformative power of art as a tool for learning and expression, particularly for multilingual learners. Her innovative approach to teaching uses visual and tactile elements to enhance language acquisition, making learning both engaging and effective.
Through her "Artful Expressions" workshops and classes, Zavia offers a unique after-school and summer program that teaches English as a second language in a fun and creative way. Her commitment to teaching and her innovative use of art make her a beloved instructor and mentor to many.
Zavia Empey continues to inspire and empower her students, helping them to build confidence, develop their language skills, and explore their creative potential. Her holistic approach to education and art has made a significant impact on the lives of many, and she remains dedicated to her mission of using art as a bridge to learning and personal growth. Zavia is a licensed teacher, she holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literatures in English, and a professional certificate in Digital Marketing.
 
Course Details: Curriculum available to students and parents.

  1. Beginner to Intermediate

    • Focus: Vocabulary building, basic sentence structure, everyday communication, parts of speech and more.
    • Art Mediums: Drawing, simple crafts, song lyrics and more.

  2. Intermediate to Advanced

    • Focus: Advanced grammar, conversational fluency, idiomatic expressions and more.
    • Art Mediums: Painting, sculpture, digital arts and more.
